Chester Zoo
Excellent, but it is a lot of walking. Reviews rate 5 to 10 as the ideal age and still recommend a pushchair at four. Climbing frames, water play and sand pits break up the distance.
A single-venue membership that still stacks up, because Chester Zoo is a full day and a day ticket is not cheap. Roughly two and a half visits and the family membership has paid for itself. If the zoo is your reliable wet-Saturday answer, it is the easiest sum on this page.

Two adults and two children: £288 a year. Family membership for 2 adults and 2 children, paying by direct debit.
Checked 2 August 2026. Nearly all of these go up in the spring, so if you are reading this much later, treat the figures as the shape of the thing rather than the price.
One place on kidzdays, and this is it.

Also covers: One place, but it is a very big place.
£320 is a lot to find in one go. The direct debit price is 10% lower, which is a real saving rather than a sales line.
We are not going to pretend to know. It turns entirely on how often you would really go, and the honest answer for most families is fewer times than they imagine in the shop. Count the trips you genuinely made last year, not the ones you meant to.
Worth saying plainly: more than half the days out on this site cost nothing at all, and no annual pass beats free. Have a look at those first.
