Greenlands Farm Village

Greenlands sits at Tewitfield, a few miles north of Carnforth, which makes it a useful stop on the way to or from the Lakes as well as a day in its own right. The open farm has more than 50 breeds and species, including Highland cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits, llamas and reptiles, with a reptile room, a hatchery and mini mammals for handling.

Feed is bought on the day for the goats, sheep, cows and pigs. The farm ticket includes an indoor adventure barn with straw, a slide and a zip line, and an air pillow on the village green when the weather allows. The farm is open 10 to 5 daily with last entry at 4.

Next door, the playbarn is a three-level padded frame with a four-lane slide, separate toddler and junior sections and a sports court, sold as 90 minute sessions and walk-in only. The website does not publish prices outside the booking system, which is irritating when you are trying to budget. Seasonal events include pumpkin picking, a Halloween silent disco and Christmas grottos.

What it costs: Ticket prices are not shown on the website, only inside the online booking system. Animal feed is bought separately. The playbarn is a separate 90 minute session for children up to 12, walk-in, no booking needed. Laser tag runs at weekends and in school holidays. Farm memberships give 12 months' unlimited farm entry.
