Sale, Greater Manchester

Worthington Park is the park in the middle of Sale, Green Flag, with an under 5s play area, an under 14s play area, a skate park, an outdoor gym, a bowling green and a bandstand that the Friends group still put brass bands on. James Prescott Joule was born in Sale and there is a plaque here about it, which is either a nice detail or a chance to explain what a joule is, depending on the child.
What Trafford do not list is as important. No car park, no cafe, no toilets. This is a park for people who live within walking distance or who come off the tram, and on that basis it is one of the better ones in Trafford. Drive over for the skate park by all means, just do not expect a coffee at the end of it.

An 18-hole pitch and putt open seven days a week, clubs hired on the spot, no booking. That is the reason to come. The playground here is under 7s only, so the golf is what occupies the older ones.
