The standard tour is self-guided with audio commentary, which suits families: you set the pace, and nobody tuts when a seven year old wants a third photo in the dugout. You get the home dressing room, the players' tunnel with the This Is Anfield sign, pitchside, the press room and views from the Main Stand, then The Liverpool FC Story museum with the trophy collection. Most families take around two hours.
Know your audience. A child in a Liverpool kit will remember this for years, and staff make a proper fuss of them. A child who is indifferent to football will find it a long, red corridor. Everton and United households should obviously look away now. No tours on matchdays in the usual format, so check dates against the fixture list before booking.
What it costs: Stadium tour and museum: adult £26, senior or student £21, under 16s £17, family of two adults and two children £77. Museum only: adult £14, senior or student £12, under 16s £10, family £40. The Matchday Stadium Tour is £28 adult and £20 under 16s.
Know before you go
- Book online before you go, because tours regularly sell out at peak times.
- If the budget will not stretch, the museum-only family ticket (£40) gets you the trophies, including the Champions League silverware, for about half the price of the full tour.

Closed. The Maritime Museum and the International Slavery Museum next door are shut for essential maintenance ahead of a major redevelopment that National Museums Liverpool says is subject to funding, and no reopening date is published. The Albert Dock around them is still worth the walk, and the city's other national museums are free and open.
Mersey Ferries River Explorer
The famous ferry across the Mersey run as a 50-minute sightseeing loop with commentary, and the honest truth is kids love the boat more than any museum. Hop off at Seacombe for Eureka! next door.
Calderstones Park
South Liverpool's favourite park: lake, playground, ancient trees and the Storybarn, The Reader's hands-on storytelling space in the old coach house. The neolithic Calder Stones are older than Stonehenge, which is a good fact to deploy.
