The maze and play area carry the day for kids; the house is a bonus round for curious ones. National Trust members walk in free, and the Summer of Play programme adds garden games through August.

Croxteth Hall & Home Farm
A working Edwardian estate farm with rare breeds, a walled garden and 500 acres of free country park around it. The farm entry is cheap and the pigs are enormous.
