Cockfields is a family-run farm park on Lees New Road, right on the Ashton and Oldham border. The animal side is hands-on: hand-feeding cows, llamas, alpacas, goats and sheep in the big barn, bunnies and guinea pigs in Cuddle Corner, and a reptile room with bugs and creepy crawlies. There are meerkats and aviaries too, and a duck pond and nature walk.

Then the play takes over: swings, slides and climbing frames, a jumping pillow, a sand and water area, and a carousel that runs unless it is raining. Tickets are listed at £18.95 each, so check the website for online offers before you go. The cafe runs 10 till 4 and you can bring a picnic, with indoor and outdoor picnic areas.

Know what season you are visiting in. From October the farm runs as the Pumpkin Patch (£21.95 each), and the Christmas train experience from late November is priced as a proper Christmas outing. The farm's FAQ says general opening runs from 11 February to 6 November, with Christmas events after that.

What it costs: General admission is listed at £18.95 per adult or child, with under 1s £2.95 and concessions £9.95. Online offers appear from time to time, so check before you book. The Pumpkin Patch is £21.95 per adult or child (early bird), Christmas 2026 is £48.95 per adult and £62.45 per child before early-date discounts. All on-site payments are by card only.

Know before you go

Arrive before 2pm: the farm is open 10am to 4pm and last admission is 2pm.
No dogs other than assistance dogs, and do not leave one in the car. And bring a card, not cash.

The Pumpkin Patch every weekend from 3 October and throughout October half term; the smaller Mini Pumpkin Patch on term-time weekdays, 5 to 23 October, 10am to 4pm (last entry 2pm); Pumpkin Patch After Dark on the evenings of 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31 October, 5pm to 8pm

Thousands of pumpkins to pick from, and every paid ticket (bar under 1s) takes one home. New for 2026 is a spooky walk-through and a Halloween show, on top of the usual barn animals, tractor rides and the bouncy pillow. Two cheaper versions run alongside it: a Mini Pumpkin Patch on term-time weekdays, with a haunted tractor hayride and a not-too-spooky story, and a Pumpkin Patch After Dark in half term that the farm says suits all ages.
