Fusion Trampoline Park
Carlisle, Cumbria
Fusion is Carlisle's trampoline park, on Millrace Road behind Sainsbury's. Inside, alongside the main trampoline arena, there are foam pits, a climbing wall, a Skyrider ride and a soft play zone. Outside is Jurassic Golf, an 18-hole crazy golf course with four large animatronic dinosaurs, waterfalls and water holes. The golf has no roof, so on a wet day it is the bouncing you are going for.
An hour's jump is £12.45 at peak times plus £2.95 for the compulsory socks, and the second hour is half price. Children five and over can go on the arena without an adult, though a grown-up has to be on site for anyone 11 and under, while 2 to 4s need a paying adult bouncing with them. Golf is £6.95 for under 12s or £28 for a family of four.

Know before you go
- Jurassic Golf is 18 holes with four big animatronic dinosaurs that roar, and it is outside with no roof, so dress for the weather. Tickets can be moved to another day if it pours.
- Term-time toddler sessions are the calm way to do it with under 5s. The site gives two different sets of times, so check the timetable before you go.
- Everyone on the trampolines has to wear Fusion's own grip socks, even if you have a pair from somewhere else.
Worth knowing: Under 2s are not allowed on the arena at peak times; 2 to 4s must have a paying adult with them.

Carlisle Castle
A working border fortress for 900 years, not a fairytale castle: a squat red keep full of prisoners' carvings, ramparts to walk and a military museum inside the walls. English Heritage, so members go free and everyone else should book online for the discount.
Tullie
Carlisle's museum, plain Tullie since the rebrand, mid-transformation and all the better for it: under-18s go free, the adult ticket is £8.50, and £16 buys an annual pass. New galleries opened in 2025, though some of the old favourites are shut for the next phase.
Bitts Park
Carlisle's big riverside park, right under the castle walls: a large play area for all ages, a free splash park in the warmer months, skate park and acres of grass where the Eden and Caldew meet. The obvious free half of a Carlisle day.
Solway Aviation Museum
A genuine Avro Vulcan and a line of Cold War aircraft parked on the apron at Carlisle Airport, with volunteers who open them up and let children climb inside. Canberra, Sea Prince and Trident stay open all year.
Hammond's Pond
Carlisle's south side park, with free parking on two sides, play zones, a brand new concrete skatepark, a games court and a seasonal cafe. A miniature railway runs Sunday afternoons from Easter to October.
