Woodland trails, big playgrounds and a hall lawn made for picnics, with a miniature railway, high ropes and crazy golf as the paid extras. The free bits alone fill an afternoon.
Wacky Warehouse at Red Robin

The Wacky Warehouse formula barely changes from pub to pub, and that is its strength: soft play built on to a Greene King pub, a separate area for tots, several slides and a large ball pool, and food for both generations without moving the car. This one is at the Red Robin in Wigan.
It is £6 a child, and adults and babies under a year go in free, which makes it one of the cheaper wet afternoons in the borough. Term-time Tots Club drops it to £4.50 before 3pm. Walk-ins are fine but booking a slot is advised, and in the school holidays that advice is worth taking.
What it costs: Venue page on 25 Sept 2026: general admission £6 per child; Tots Club £4.50 per child, 9am to 3pm, term time only. Adults free, babies under 12 months free. Hot drink and a slice of cake £4.99. Last admission one hour before closing.

Three floors of child-sized town in the Grand Arcade, opened in July 2026 by the people behind Imagine That in Liverpool: a city with an emergency services dispatch, a village supermarket, a dino dig and a slime factory. Dear, but a session is three hours, not one.
Run and Jump
An independent soft play in Wigan, going since 2013, with a 4.2 metre three-lane wavy slide, a small football and basketball court and 7,000 square feet of frame. Open every day, no booking, and cheaper on a weekday.
