Merlin Annual Pass
This is the one where a North West family needs to do the maths before believing the headline. The pass is priced per person, so a family of four starts at £556 a year on Essential, and only three of the attractions are actually in the North West.

Worth knowing before you buy: Read this bit before you buy. Since 1 August 2025 the Blackpool Tower Eye, the Blackpool Tower Dungeon, Madame Tussauds Blackpool and Peter Rabbit are NO LONGER on the Merlin pass - Blackpool Council took those attractions over from Merlin and runs them through Blackpool Tourism Ltd. SEA LIFE Blackpool is still Merlin and still included. Plenty of guides and older articles have not caught up.

Sea Life Manchester
Ocean tunnel, rays, seahorses and rockpool touch sessions, sized for smaller legs - you can do the whole thing in a morning and pair it with Legoland next door.
Legoland Discovery Centre
Two rides, a 4D cinema, build zones and Manchester's skyline done in miniature bricks. Squarely aimed at 3 to 10, and it knows it: adults can only visit with a child.
Also covers: 24 attractions nationally, but the big ones - LEGOLAND Windsor, Thorpe Park, Chessington, the London Eye - are a long way south. Alton Towers is the realistic fourth for a North West family at about an hour and a quarter from Manchester.
Would it actually pay for itself?
We are not going to pretend to know. It turns entirely on how often you would really go, and the honest answer for most families is fewer times than they imagine in the shop. Count the trips you genuinely made last year, not the ones you meant to.
Worth saying plainly: more than half the days out on this site cost nothing at all, and no annual pass beats free. Have a look at those first.
