Illustration of Activity for All Wirral

Activity for All sits on Arrowe Brook Road in Upton, next to Arrowe Park, and it puts several things under one roof. The Fun Forest is a three-tier soft play with a four-lane wavy slide, a dizzy disc and rollers, for children up to 154cm. Under-1-metre toddlers get a separate fenced area with a ball pool, a little bridge and soft bricks. Babies under 6 months go free.

Older children can graduate to the Ape Antics climbing walls and the Aerial Adventures high ropes course above the cafe. The ropes need a minimum height of 110cm, and the operator suggests the walls and ropes for school Year 3 and up at parties. Mini Golf Adventures is an 18-hole neon course with underwater and space themes, which buys you another half hour when the climbing is done.

The catch is that standard prices are hidden in the booking system rather than printed anywhere. What is listed are the term-time weekday deals at £11.50, a play session with breakfast for you or lunch or tea for the child. Soft play runs 9am to 8pm, the climbing 10am to 8pm, and the kitchen serves food until 6pm at weekends and 7pm in the week.

What it costs: Standard prices are only in the booking system. Term-time weekday deals are £11.50 (a soft play session plus breakfast for the adult, or lunch or dinner for the child) and the after-school climbing meal deal is £12.50. Babies under 6 months play free.

Know before you go

  • Weekend and school holiday soft play is cheaper booked online in advance.
  • Climbers need lace-up shoes, no crocs or sliders, and long hair tied back. The high ropes have a 110cm minimum height.
  • Quiet sessions for additional needs run on Sundays at 8.45am and Wednesdays at 6pm and 7pm, all year.

Worth knowing: Soft play up to 154cm, ropes 110cm+.

A hands-on science centre built precisely for this age group - walk-through lungs and a supersize brain in the new Bodies gallery, inventions to test, and the ferry stop is literally outside. Entry converts to an annual pass, which changes the maths entirely.
