Brockhole was the Lake District National Park's visitor centre for years. BeWILDerwood now runs the site and is still renovating it: the grounds are open, but the visitor centre and the old activities have closed.
What runs now is Minty Land, BeWILDerwood's indoor play centre (£8 off-peak, £10 in the school holidays, one adult included), Zip World's Treetop Trek, Treetop Nets and Treetop Drop, the Wild Bounce inflatables from 11am to 4pm (£10 for anyone over a metre tall, £5 under), and the Windermere Lake Cruises pier. The Whitehouse Cafe now opens only at weekends and in the school holidays, with a short menu of sandwiches, cake and drinks, and a catering trailer by the play area sells hot and cold drinks, sweet treats and ice cream.
Parking is pay and display: £5.50 up to two hours, £6.50 for three, £9 all day. BeWILDerwood's own outdoor attraction is on the way, so expect the site to keep changing.
A Halloween trail through the Brockhole woods with six character stations to find. Collect a letter at each one, work out the secret word and claim a Halloween gift bag (colouring book, crayons, a snap band and a maze book) back at Minty Land. Built for 2 to 8 year olds at £3 a child.
