Castaway Play on Moss Road is more ambitious than the usual shed full of netting. There are five themed worlds, part indoors and part under cover: a tropical beach with 60 tonnes of sand, slides and a water splash area; Castaway Cove, with a pirate ship, gold panning in a creek, the biggest slides and ride-on quad bikes; the Lost Jungle, with a climbing wall and zip line for over-twos; and the Magical Kingdom for smaller ones.
On top of that there is a sports room, a pedal go-kart track, a disco room and a space-themed sensory room for under-threes, which is booked at extra cost. Snugburys ice cream is served on site. Everything else is in the one price, which at weekends and in the holidays is £14.95 for a 4 to 10 year old and £4.95 per adult, plus a £1.50 booking fee.
It is not cheap at peak, so timing matters. Term-time weekdays drop to £11.95 before 2pm, and on selected dates up to 30 November 2026 one adult and one child get in for £9.95. Weekday opening is 9.30am to 3pm, weekends 9.30am to 5.30pm. The Halloween show in October and the Christmas Alpine Retreat from late November are ticketed separately.

Castaway's Halloween takeover: a passport trail with a chocolate reward, a pumpkin to pick and take home, a figure to paint, character appearances through the day, a Greatest Showman-style show, an animal handling session, a haunted disco and fancy dress prizes, with all the play areas included. A calmer SEN session runs on 18 October.
A two and a half hour Christmas session: elf passport control, a private grotto visit with Santa and a toy from Santa's toy shop, a visit to the Grinch, a woodland wishing tunnel, a North Pole post office, then play time in the rest of the centre. Upgraded tickets add gingerbread decorating, reindeer food, build a bear and marshmallow toasting. A family of four starts at £49.99 in November and £59.99 in December, and adults without a family ticket pay £9.99.

A flooded sand quarry ten minutes' walk from Congleton town centre, now fourteen hectares of water, woodland and wildflower meadow with a flat mile long path round it. There is no playground.
Fifty odd acres of birch and oak wrapped round a fifteen acre lake, out between Congleton and Holmes Chapel. Give the children the permanent orienteering map and it stops being a walk.
The free outdoor paddling pool is the summer draw, run for under elevens with an attendant always on duty. The rest is twenty five acres of Victorian park along the River Dane.
