Excellent, but it is a lot of walking. Reviews rate 5 to 10 as the ideal age and still recommend a pushchair at four. Climbing frames, water play and sand pits break up the distance.
The Ice Cream Farm

Free to enter, and the business model is glorious: enormous play areas - a sand and water quarry, diggers, adventure golf - funded entirely by the ice cream counter. Some indoor attractions charge per go; the outdoor bulk costs nothing.
Budget for the ice cream rather than fighting it - that is the deal, and it is a good one. Weekends are heaving; a weekday visit transforms it.

A big warehouse of trampolines, drop slides, laser tag and e-karts on the business park before Chester. Loud, sweaty and reliably popular - the off-peak slots are the value play.
