Real snow, all year, at The Snow Centre Manchester (the rebranded Chill Factore): the UK's longest indoor real snow slope for lessons and lift passes, with ski lessons from age 4, and a Snow Park where children over four sledge and spin down the slope on inflatable Downhill Donuts, with an Ice Slide for six and up. The Snow Park runs at weekends and through the school holidays, not every day.
Gloves are compulsory and they are strict about it: bring your own or buy a pair there. Skis, boots and helmets come with a lesson or lift pass and helmets with a Snow Park pass, but jackets and trousers are extra to hire. The slope sits at around minus 6 in the daytime, so dress everyone for actual winter; the novelty of being freezing in August wears off quickly for the underdressed.
