This is the one a football-mad child remembers. The museum runs across three floors of trophies and club history, including the Munich memorial room, and the guided tour takes you through the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand, down the players' tunnel, into the players' dressing room and the press room, and out pitchside to the dugouts. The guides know their stuff and pitch it well for kids.
Allow two and a half to three hours for tour plus museum, and book ahead online. It does not run on home match days, so check the fixtures first. The Red Cafe covers lunch and there is free parking at the ground. It is a proper spend for a family of four, but as football pilgrimages go it delivers.
One honest note: the tour is 70 minutes of walking and listening, with plenty of stairs, which is a long time for a preschooler. Under threes go free but still need a ticket on the booking, and this works far better once they actually care whose dressing room it is.
What it costs: Around £28 adult, £18 child (5-15), family tickets about £75. Prices move with the date, and Official Members get up to half off.

War told through people's stories in a building designed to feel like a shattered globe. The hourly Big Picture Show projections fill the whole gallery and stop everyone mid-step. Heavy themes, handled well, and better for the top end of primary.
Two rides, a 4D cinema, build zones and Manchester's skyline done in miniature bricks. Squarely aimed at 3 to 10, and it knows it: adults can only visit with a child.

Real snow all year round at the venue Manchester still calls Chill Factore. Over-fours get the Snow Park with sledging, Downhill Donuts and an ice slide at weekends and in the school holidays; older kids can learn to ski or board on the UK's longest indoor real snow slope.
