Farmer Bertie's is a family farm on the A574 in Glazebury, directly opposite Bents, and for most of the year its public face is a self-serve hut selling milk, eggs, cakes and milkshakes seven days a week. Three times a year the fields open, and that is when it becomes a proper outing.
Spring is tulips: more than 120,000 bulbs went in for 2026, and they are due back next April. Strawberry picking usually runs from mid June to late July, weather permitting, with containers provided and the fruit weighed at the end. October is the pumpkin patch, 22 acres of home-grown pumpkins with Halloween props dotted about and food and drink on site.
The pumpkin opening weekend, Pick of the Patch on 10 and 11 October, is the only ticketed part: £2 plus a booking fee gets you first go at the field, with live music and marshmallow toasting, and a later golden-hour session from 3pm to 5pm. After that it is walk-in. The pumpkins themselves are priced on the day, and the website does not say what they cost.
What it costs: Pick of the Patch (10 and 11 October 2026, the only ticketed pumpkin days) is £2 plus a £1.09 booking fee per person, under-2s free. Pumpkin prices are not published. Strawberries are weighed and paid for at the end.

A theme park deliberately built for ages 2 to 13 rather than teenagers, so both of them can ride most of it. The classic full-day option on your doorstep.
An adventure farm off Stretton Road built for 4 to 12s: tractor trailer rides, zip wires, drop slides, jumping pillows, roller skating and a tent full of inflatables. Despite the name there are no animals to see, and in October it turns into Spooky World's daytime Fun-By-Day.
Two-tier soft play frame, low climbing wall, pirate ship, crawl tubes and a bouncy slide, plus Messy Monday and sensory sessions during the week.
Bigger than the average soft play: multi-level frame, a spooky room, an astro slide, a climbing wall, two mini bowling lanes and a slot racing track. The bowling is what makes it work when you have a toddler and a seven-year-old to keep happy at once.
