Illustration of Delamere Forest

Cheshire's biggest forest, properly set up for families: the Gruffalo sculptures still stand along the mile-long trail, and 2026's new activity trail is Room on the Broom, with panels and activities from the visitor centre. The whole loop is pram-friendly.

Go Ape runs overhead for older children, bikes can be hired, and the cafe at the visitor centre earns its queue. Parking is the only essential cost - pay it and the day is otherwise free.

Know before you go

  • The Gruffalo sculptures are still in place, and 2026's new activity trail is Room on the Broom - both start from the visitor centre.
