Zip wires and treetop crossings through the tallest pines in Delamere Forest. The entry-level course takes them from four if they are over a metre tall; the big course is a genuine test of nerve.

Cheshire's biggest forest, properly set up for families: the Gruffalo sculptures still stand along the mile-long trail, and 2026's new activity trail is Room on the Broom, with panels and activities from the visitor centre. The whole loop is pram-friendly.
Go Ape runs overhead for older children, bikes can be hired, and the cafe at the visitor centre earns its queue. Parking is the only essential cost - pay it and the day is otherwise free.
What it costs: No entry charge. Parking at the Visitor Centre and Treetops car parks is £4 for an hour, £7.50 for two, £11 for three and £12.50 for longer; Whitefield car park is £3.80, £7, £9 and £9.50. Arrive car-free and there is nothing to pay. The Room on the Broom trail pack is optional, £4 from the Welcome Point (open 9.30am to 4.30pm).
Know before you go
