A vertical wind tunnel at TraffordCity that simulates proper freefall, with an instructor holding on to your child the whole time. Each flight lasts about 55 seconds, which sounds like nothing until you watch a seven-year-old grinning through it. The minimum age is 3, though nerves and attention spans mean it lands best with confident school-age kids.
The whole visit runs about an hour and a half: check-in, safety briefing, kit, then the two flights. Book a timed slot online, arrive 45 minutes early, and note the health restrictions and upper weight limit. There is free parking and a cafe on site. It is a lot of money for two minutes of airtime, but it is two minutes they will talk about for months.

A Georgian house in a deer park where the fallow deer wander right past you. This summer's Play Hub adds giant games and den building in the North Park, and the winter garden is the area's best cold-day walk.
