Billed as the UK's biggest soft play. A long drive for soft play, but it's the one that turns a rainy day into an actual event, and the seafront is right there.

Manor Road in Wallasey is not where anyone would look for a day out, and Monkey House is not pretending otherwise. It is a neighbourhood soft play scaled for small children: frames a toddler can actually get round, a baby area, and the whole thing visible from the cafe tables, so nobody has to crawl through a tunnel to retrieve anyone.
The pricing is unusually kind. Six pounds covers anything over twelve months, sixes to twelves are £2.50, under six months are free, and adults pay nothing at all. Two children and two adults is twelve pounds. There is no booking system unless you are throwing a party. Set expectations by age, though. This is nought to five territory and it does not stretch. If you have a one year old and three hours of rain to get through, this is the right building.
Know before you go
- It is a genuine under-fives place. A seven year old brought along for the ride will have exhausted it in twenty minutes, and if you have a mixed-age crew then Bubbles World of Play is ten minutes up the coast at New Brighton and built for the bigger ones. Note too that Sunday is the short day, 10am to 4pm, while every other day runs 9am to 6pm.
Worth knowing: Aimed at babies through to pre-school. Older children will be bored.

Britain's first country park: a clifftop path above the Dee, a beach for fossicking below, and a visitor centre with bird hides. Wild-feeling without being remote.
Church Farm
A small, friendly Wirral farm park with animal handling most days, a maize maze in late summer, and Thurstaston Common and the beach five minutes away for a two-stop day.
