Two of Formby's three parks have no car park and no toilets, so Duke Street Park is where you go with small children.

It is a short walk from the station and has a large play area, bowling greens, football pitches and six hard tennis courts you can book for nothing, with new play equipment ordered in June 2026. Freshfield Dune Heath is eight hectares of Wildlife Trust heath with red squirrels, lizards, dragonflies and grazing livestock on it, and Deansgate Lane Fields is more pitches than park, though a woodland sculpture trail runs through the trees along the edge.
