The frames are split by size, and that split decides whether a soft play visit is relaxing or an exercise in damage control. There is a big one for the older children, a smaller copy for toddlers and a dedicated baby area with sensory kit. Tunnels, slides and rope climbs fill out the rest. All of it sits in the Lancaster Leisure Park complex on Wyresdale Road, and it takes children from newborn to ten.
Only children who play pay. Over 1s are £8.25 at weekends and in the school holidays, £7.25 in term time, and 6 to 11 month olds are £4.80. Adults are free, and babies under six months are free alongside a paying sibling, which makes it one of the better value indoor options in the district for a family of three or four. Meal deals combine play with a sandwich or a hot meal and run £7.25 to £13.50 depending on age, appetite and day.
Weekends and holidays run in three timed sessions, 9.30 to 11.15, 11.45 to 1.30 and 2.00 to 3.45. Term time is simpler, open through from 9.30 to 4.30 on Mondays and Tuesdays and to 5.00 Wednesday to Friday. Booking is recommended and not required. There is a cafe doing proper coffee, which after ninety minutes in a ball pool is not a small thing.

Know before you go
- Term time is a pound cheaper and there are no timed sessions, so a term time weekday morning is both cheaper and quieter.
- Weekends and holidays run in fixed sessions of roughly an hour and three quarters. Turn up at the wrong point in the cycle and you wait, so check the times at the kitchen table.

Salt Ayre Leisure Centre
Lancaster's council leisure centre doing triple duty: Energy soft play, XHeight climbing walls and a 33m pool with a waterslide and inflatable sessions. Cheaper than the private soft play chains, and everything is under one roof for a wet day.
Crook O' Lune Picnic Site
Turner painted this view, which is worth nothing to a seven year old but does explain the crowds. A picnic site on the horseshoe bend of the Lune with tables, toilets and easy riverside walking.
Ryelands Park
Forty-six acres north of the Lune with an accessible play area for under twelves, outdoor gym kit and five football pitches. Free parking, and a free junior parkrun every Sunday morning.
The Little Cobbled Village
A pretend village for under 8s on the Lune Business Park: fire station, vets, supermarket, ice cream parlour and seven more wooden play shops. Booked sessions, calm by design, and very little climbing.
Judges' Lodgings Museum
A 17th-century townhouse below the castle with a Museum of Childhood on the top floor: 200 years of toys, a Victorian schoolroom and nurseries. Free for children, adults £5, and open Thursday to Sunday until mid November.
