Hands-on science galleries and a glass rooftop observatory over the Mersey. Small, cheap, indoors and close.

A man-made island between the Sankey Canal and the Mersey, reclaimed from the chemical industry into flat riverside parkland with big skies and boats to watch. Free parking, next door to Catalyst, and yes, it is where the Stone Roses played in 1990.

Salt marsh, then a rubbish tip for thirty years, now a nature reserve on the Mersey at Halebank. Wildflower meadows, surfaced riverside paths that take a pushchair, and a waterfront cafe that opened in 2026.

Pool, teaching pool, soft play, gym, sauna and a cafe in one building on Moor Lane, which means a swim and an hour of soft play without moving the car. One of the better wet weather answers in Halton.
