The Blackpool branch of the wax museum sits right on the Promenade and pitches itself squarely at families: 14 themed zones, more than 75 figures, and the line-up runs to Marvel superheroes, Strictly, music and sporting names rather than world leaders. It is all indoors, which matters more in Blackpool than in most seaside towns.
Book online before you go, it is noticeably cheaper than walking up, and under 3s are free. Budget a couple of hours. The Wax Hands souvenir costs extra and is ages 7 and up, and a combined ticket with the Tower Dungeon or the other seafront attractions brings the per-place price down if you are making a day of it.
The Coronation Street zone includes a full Rovers Return set with a working bar, which will mean far more to the adults than to the children. The kids will be off finding Spider-Man.

- Book online at least the day before - walk-up prices are the tourist tax.
